Hurricane Katrina Relief

Hurricane Katrina has devastated several states. The full extent of the damage is still not known but the need is urgent. Because it is impossible to know the full extent of the damage, at the present time, the responses to the appeal will be divided equally between the Grand Lodges of Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama. (There is a separate appeal out for Florida as well.)

Specific gifts will go to the Grand Lodge that is designated. Undesignated gifts will be divided with one third going to Louisiana, one third Mississippi and one third to Alabama.

All contributions, in whatever amount, from Grand Lodges, Lodges, Individuals, or Appendant Masonic Bodies will be acknowledged by MSA with most grateful thanks.

When making contributions, checks should be sent to the MSA Disaster Relief Fund at 8120 Fenton Street, Ste. 203, Silver Spring, MD 20910-4785.

We have received the following information from the Mohassan Grotto of Davenport regarding a Disaster Relief Appeal due to Hurricane Katrina:

GROTTOES OF NORTH AMERICAN HURRICANE KATRINA RELIEF FUND

The Grand Monarch, Clayton E. Simons, of the Grottoes of North American has started a hurricane relief fund. This fund is to help Grottoes and Prophets in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama. The Mohassan Grotto Humanitarian Fund has agreed to match any fund donated by Mohassan members up to a total of $5000.

To make a donation you can make out your check to "Katrina Relief Fund" and give it to either Roger Heesch or Wayne Borck. There will also be a collection jar at Club MoKan. The Humanitarian Committee will total the donations and match them dollar for dollar and send them on to the Supreme Council.

We will start this fund raising effort at our Labor Day Dinner.

Remember these contributions are NOT tax deductible and will ONLY BE USED TO ASSIST THE GROTTOES AND PROPHETS IN NEED.

A second fund rising will be held with the fund going to the American Red Cross. Again the Humanitarian Fund will match these funds and forward a check to the Red Cross. If you wish to donate to this fund please make your checks out to "Mohassan Grotto Humanitarian Fund". These funds will be tax deductible and will be used by the Red Cross to help the general population of the area.
